Ali Hussain Alowinati

My graduation year was 2023 from a government high school in Bahrain. Like many students, I applied to several universities and different scholarship programs, mainly looking at medical and engineering majors. I was fortunate to receive acceptance from several universities in Bahrain, but I felt that most of the available majors were very common and familiar to many people. I wanted to choose something different, something that was unique but also important and had a strong future. This made my decision more challenging because I did not want to choose a major simply because it was popular. After doing more research, asking different people, and exploring the available options, I discovered Petroleum Engineering. It immediately caught my attention because it combined engineering, science, and one of the most important industries in the region. What made the decision even better was finding out that the Ministry of Education was offering scholarships for students to study this major. However, choosing Petroleum Engineering and studying outside Bahrain was not an easy decision. It was a new path for me, and I knew it would be challenging, but I decided to take the opportunity and step outside my comfort zone. Looking back, I believe it was one of the most important decisions I have made for my future
