Bachelor's degrees usually take four years, with general courses before you declare a major. Test requirements (SAT or ACT) vary: many universities are test-optional.
After you are admitted and show you can cover your costs, the university issues a Form I-20. You then pay the SEVIS fee and apply for an F-1 student visa, which includes an interview at a US embassy. Check the latest rules on the US embassy website.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) lets eligible graduates work in their field for a period after their studies, with a longer option for many science and technology degrees.
